Katie Thomas Carol, Esq.

Katie is the Director of Livable futures at the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center, which is a nonprofit that exists to demystify the federal government. Katie leads the organization’s climate work in a way that advances life-affirming, community-driven climate policies that strengthen worker rights, build resilient local infrastructure, and foster both community and global solidarity rooted in justice and civil rights. She works to ensure that the benefits of climate investments are felt primarily by those who have historically been excluded from those investments, like BIPOC communities and the working poor. Her work confronts the era of fossil fuels with solidarity, opposing extraction that harms Indigenous sovereignty, workers, and global frontline communities, while fighting for policies that hold corporations and utilities accountable. Katie previously worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. first for U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and then for U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) from Silicon Valley. Prior to that, she served as an associate attorney at Duncan, Weinberg, Genzer & Pembroke, P.C.
